Jimmy Patsos will lead his Greyhound in a second-straight national postseason tournament, this time in the College Insider Tournament against future Patriot League foe Boston U.

Starting next season games between the Loyola Greyhound and Boston University Terriers will be a common event as both will be leaving there respective conferences to join the Patriot League but on Tuesday in the first round of the College Insider Tournament we will get a little preview of what to expect as the two are set to square off in Baltimore at the Reitz Arena at Loyola.

Last season Loyola won the MAAC championship and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. This season they recorded their second-straight 20-win season but their second place finish in the conference resulted in an early loss in their conference tournament. Still, though, Loyola is stacked with talent, led by a bevvy of veterans including the incredibly athletic forward Erik Etherly (15.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and glue man Robert Olson (12.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg), both seniors, and junior combo guard Dylon Cormier (16.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg).

Boston U on the other hand of the America East Conference finished 17-12 and second in their conference but were banned from their conferences’ post season tournament for their future departure. Two years ago, the were in the NCAA tournament and while those stars are gone some new ones have emerged and they include junior guard D.J. Irving (14.3 ppg, 3.6 apg, 3.4 rpg) and junior forward Dom Morris (11.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg). Freshman Maurice Watson Jr. (11.1 ppg, 5.4 apg) has been a breath of fresh air too running the point.

Check back later for a full preview of Loyola’s national tournament clash against Boston U taking place on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm.

Corey Johns

Editor in Chief
You could say Corey was born to become a sports journalist. His father won a national championship coaching college soccer. His mother is a baseball fanatic who hasn't missed seeing an Orioles game since 1983 (literally, sometimes it's annoying). His great uncle was a big-time boxing promoter and his maternal grandfather was once a department head at the Baltimore Sun. Basically, sports and journalism run through his blood. He played just about every little league sports there was when he was a kid and was a multi-sport athlete in high school; even playing in the first-ever high school sanction Rugby game in the country. Eventually he retired from sports as an undefeated Maryland state Rugby champion as a high school senior. Perhaps lack of athletic talent has more to do with the retirement, but he will tell you that it more had to do with a great desire to jump right into media. Upon his graduation from University of Maryland, Baltimore County as a triple communications major, Corey started the So Much Sports network and has continued to grow his websites and continues to work to make them premier sports media outlets.
